The joint venture, that reunites American company General Electric aviation and French engines manufacturer Safran Aircraft Engines, had a big year keeping an outstanding trend with a historical result.

The Leap motor main program in 2020

CFM International sold a total amount of more than 3 300 orders for his two rotors family. The CFM56, older one that is mainly for commercial and military planes and the Leap that is now very popular with more than 2870 engines ordered, including the intention of command. The number of CFM56 that have been ordered this year is 474.

206 billion dollars since 2011

The Leap rotor is now the first choice for single-aisle planes. Since 2011 ad the beginning of the program, CFM sold around 14270 Leap rotor for a total amount of 206 billion dollars.

CFM is now doing a program transition, in fact, the older CFM 56' production will decrease years after years until it'll stop in 2020. At this date, Leap rotor will be the main program of CFM International and the only CFM 56 rotors that will be realized will be the one that will replace existing one until 2045 approximately.

"We are very satisfied with the results that we've got. It's the second-best year in terms of command for Leap Rotor in this program history. In 2018, we will continue on this production growth for the Leap rotor all of that keeping the same level of quality required by our customers." said Gaël Métheust, CFM International CEO
