Air Baltic announces massive command for Bombardier CS300

The 28th of May, Martin Gauss Air Baltic's CEO said the Latvian airline is buying 30 new Bombardier CS300 aircraft in a massive expansion plan for its fleets that is part of a new business plan called Destination 2025.

The order is done for 30 firm aircraft that the company will add to the 20 Bombardier aircraft that Air Baltic owns. This order also include an option for a further 30 aircraft. Aircraft deliveries should start at the end of 2019. The total amount for this transaction is 2,9 billion euros without the one in option and 5.9 billion if optional aircraft are finally bought. Air Baltic configured the Aircraft to be a single-aisle plane and to be able to carry 148 passengers. Air Baltic is now the major European client for Bombardir CS aircraft family, before Swiss airline that owns 30 CS100 and CS300 and the Latvian airline become the second most important client worldwide after Delta Airline that owns 75 CS100.

"We will be signing a contract today for 30 firm aircraft and 30 optional aircraft. That is, 60 aircraft. If we execute all options, by the year 2024 we would be operating 80 CS300 aircraft," Gauss said.

Air Baltic started a new development strategy called destination 2025 that is going to be the most important investment done per Latvia and will play a major role in aerial Baltic expansion.

"It's just logical to continue this development," said Transport Minister Uldis Augulis in reference to the Destination 2025 plan, "This investment will be the biggest investment in Latvian history"
