Airbus is moving on with Digital transformation

Supply chain 4.0, Digital factory, Artificial intelligence, cloud are as many new assets for a company to manage and implement in factories of the future. Regarding Industries and Aerospace especially this is a needed move to reduce cost and maximize production efficiency.

Airbus digitalization is currently taking a boost. This process began four years ago and recently Marc Fontaine, Airbus Digital transformation director met the AJPAE (Professional journalist of Aeronautic and Space Association) to provide an overview of Airbus advancement.

This transformation became obvious as new generation technology are now mature and answers to current industrial needs. As we can see at the moment emergence of new technology such as GPS, sensors, connectivity onboard and storage cost decline.

While supply chain is constantly moving and new suppliers chosen for old program. Airbus began a much bigger project with this digitalization. With DDMS (Digital Design Manufacturing Services) Airbus should be able to launch new program 30% faster and reduce cost about the same percentage.

We understand easily that next Airbus program will benefit from this digital transformation and advancement of this process will define calendar for future development. If bigger suppliers will easily adapt their practices to fit Airbus requirement. It will be much harder for smaller partner that will have to change their practices in order to continue to work with the European giant.
