Updated: Aug 26, 2019

The single-aisle aircraft market is expending, it should represent 70% of the aircraft sales in the next 20 years. For the their “neo” aircrafts, Airbus has four assembly lines: in Hamburg, Toulouse, Mobile and Tianjin.

On this market the leader is Airbus with its A 320 neo, with 386 deliveries in 2018. Powered by the LEAP motor and with more than 150 seats, this aircraft allows a 20% fuel burn reduction and a 50% noise footprint reduction.

For the A320 neo, Airbus is planning to produce 63 aircrafts per months in 2020, being 756 on this year.

Overview of the sales/ deliveries for the month of August

The low-cost company, Tigerair Taiwan, is planning to add fifteen A320 neo to its fleet. It will purchase seven to Airbus and rent eight of them. The Tigerair Taiwan’s fleet is already composed of eleven A320 neo. This new acquisition will allow the airline to strengthen its market presence in Japan.

On August the 6th, Ural Airlines received its first A320 neo coming from the rental company CDB Aviation. This aircraft is the first operating in Russia and will be used for both national and international flights.

The Chinese leader on the single-aisle airline, Air China, will enrich its fleet with ten A320 neo. Those aircraft will be rent by the company BOC Aviation Limited and shall be delivered on the period 2019-2020.

Air Seychelles new business plan was to replace their two Airbus A320-200s with the more fuel-efficient neo version.

Extra Long Range

This summer's Paris Air Show saw the launch of the Airbus A321XLR, the latest in the line. The "XLR" stands for "Extra Long Range."

In a 175 to 200 passenger, three-class layout with business-class lie-flat seats, premium economy and economy cabins, the XLR will be able to range out as far as 4,700 nautical miles, or 8,700 kilometers. At the plane's maximum 244-seat passenger capacity, the range drops to 4,000 nautical miles, or 7,400 kilometers.

The XLR will be able to link cities like Rome and New York, London and Delhi, and Tokyo and Sydney. These extended international journeys are reminiscent of the start of global jet travel.
