EASA certification for Ardiden 3C

End of April, Safran Helicopter Engines received EASA (European Aviation Safety Agency) for his helicopter turboshaft the Ardiden 3C also known in Asia as WZ16. The engine is audited for CAAC certification and will be in September 2019 the first engines to receive either EASA and CAAC. the motor has been developed and built by a collaboration between Safran Aircraft Engines, Dongan and HAPRI parts of Engines collaboration consortium (AECC).

The engines Ardiden 3C/WZ16 is a next generation turboshaft in 1700 to 2000 shp power class two competitive advantages: one of the best quality when we look at weight and power and has a green print gain of 10% compared with other engines with same power.


Flight text campaign started in December 2016 with AC352's maiden flight and a variant of this engine, the 3G, has been chose to power its Ka-62 that made his first flight in May 2017. Since first flight test session, certification campaign, the turboshaft accumulated more than 10 000 flight test hours and has a high-level of maturity for his launch.

China is a strategic market for Safran aircraft engines as 50% of Helicopters are manufactured by the French company thanks to a collaboration with Chinese indutry for more than 40 years.
