Paris area centralizes 2000 sites and companies including 1400 small companies and start-up. That is the main European area for aerospace & defense industry. With a total of 103 000 workers, Ile de France region is as big as entire Germany in term of jobs and it's two times the Italy's workforce, two very influent countries too.
In an interview done by Air & Cosmos a famous French magazine, Valerie Pécresse, President of regional council of Ile-de-France, put forward the willingness to improve and redevelop industrialization in this place.
Since many years, the region is oriented to future plant 4.0 and this point is very developed, more develop than almost everywhere on the globe. The perfect example is Villaroche site of Safran. Key players are going into innovation that characterizes the whole aerospace industry. There is now a big challenge for all companies and suppliers to follow this trend.
This sovereignty of Paris area in Europe and in the world is due to the high number of companies but also to an impressive amount of high-level engineer schools. To continue to perform in this area and to better match industry requirement, the region plan to build two new school two new school dedicated to aerospace knowledge. The first campus will be established in Le Bourget and the other will focus over conception, industrialization and maintenance, three requirements that Astech cluster identified as a need when they talked with small companies' decision makers.
