Indonesia chose Thales Alenia Space to supply Satria satellite

The French and Italian satellite manufacturer have been selected to design, manufacture and assembly a powerful telecommunication satellite for the Indonesian consortium PSN. Launch phase is planed for 2022.

Indonesia’s Ministry of Communication and Information Technology has selected the consortium led by the domestic satellite operator Pasifik Satelit Nusantara to deploy and operate a broadband telecommunication satellite. This consortium has awarded the Joint Venture between Thales and Leonardo to design and manufacture the satellite named SATRIA.


The full Ka-band SATRIA satellite will carry more than 150 gigabits per second over the full Indonesian territory. Dedicated to narrow the digital divide, SATRIA has the ambition to connect around 145,000 areas including 90,000 schools, 40,000 hospitals and public buildings as well as regional government sites not linked by existing satellite or terrestrial infrastructure. The satellite will contribute to the digital infrastructure developments in Indonesia.


The Indonesian satellite operator Pasifik Satellite Nusantara will manage during 15 years the Satria stellite on the behalf of Komonfo, the Indonesian Ministry of Communication and Information Technology. It should be launched on the fourth trimester of 2022.


This order appear fifteen months after their last contract with Eutelsat for a wide brand satellite Connect VHTS and its the fifth contract since October 2015 the realization of a geostationary telecommunication satellite, based on the full electric platform Spacebus Neo.
