Onera unveiled the Dragon concept

Two years after they presented the Ampère concept ahead of the 57th edition of the Paris AirShow, Onera will unveil their new research regarding advantages and disadvantages of distributed propulsion for a 150 passenger airliner at a cruise speed of Mach 0,8. This study will be helpful to implement this technology in future aircraft around 2035. It is a hybrid propulsion system that will be studied as the kerosene used in this technlogy will be converted in electrical power by two turbogenerators able to supply a 26W electrical power. This technology added to future component innovation should reduce kerosene consumption of 25%.
