Turkey launch new Turbofan program to equip its TF-X fighter jet

A deal has been found between industries and defense Turkish government and TR Motor, regarding the turbofan development, destined to Turkish fighter jet TF-X.

Ismail Demir, the Turkish aerial forces and defense commander and TR Motor's representatives attended the ceremony. TR Motor is owned by 55% by BMC, a leader in the manufacture of commercial vehicle. It has initially been created by British Motor Corporation in 1964, which gave it the name. One of the major shareholder of the company is the Defense minister of Qatari.

They decied that the fighter jet TF-X will be equipped by a Turbofan which will be developped inside the country in order first to manufacture the engine but not only. Turkish decidors wants that subsets and sub-components to be done by Turkish companies.

Earlier this year, Rolls-Royce created a join-venture with Turkish leader Kale in order to apply for the TF-X turbofan project. As Turkey doesn't want foreign suppliers to participate in the project it can either be a chance for Rolls-Royce to continue to work on military projects and for Turkey to benefit from engine manufacturer leader's technology.

At the moment there are still some conflicting points as Turkey asks for the intellectual patent when Rolls-Royce doesn't want it to goes to competition. Other internationals appliance are studied.
