Boeing opens its first European plant!

American Giant Boeing celebrated the 25th of Octobe rinauguration from its new plant that own the American firm in Europe: Boeing Sheffield.

This plant will be specialized on actuator parts that will be on famous 737 and 767. These parts will be manufacture from UK's raw material and will be assembly at Boeing Portland.


In its facility of Sheffield, Boeing will manufacture more than 100 different part for command system. This 6.200m² plant represents a 40 millions pounds investment and a chace for the american aircraft manufacturer in the middle of the Global Innovation Corridor which is the new Industrial Park of Sheffield in UK. Boeing Sheffield already has 52 employees including experimented engineers and machinist and around 20 trainees.


Boeing chose to invest on local partners to develop in UK. Aeromet International Ltd, a manufacturer of aluminum and magnesium castings based in Worcester, will supply Boeing Sheffield with high-strength multilayer aluminum molded parts. Maher Ltd, Boeing's first supplier, will deliver custom-made steel bars and pre-finished steel components of British origin from Liberty Specialty Steels, a foundry located five kilometers from the new Boeing plant.

The following companies are also part of the project: MetLase Ltd, a new Boeing's supplier based in the Rotherham high-tech Industrial Park, will be Boeing Sheffield's partner in the field of tooling and welding; Mettis Aerospace Ltd, a designer and manufacturer of precision machined parts at Redditch, will supply Boeing Sheffield with precision alloy steel components. Other partners are AMRC Training Center, D5 Architects, JF Finnegan, CNC Mills, Mitutoyo, Mott MacDonald, Nikken, Starrag and WFL.
